Spain

We are only working with two producers from Spain at the moment, but those two producers are AWESOME, and one of them manages to cover a huge amount of the country.

Muchada-Léclapart, Sanlúcar de Barrameda

Wine doesn’t often get to be exciting. Delicious, complex, energetic… it can be some or all of those things, but to be exciting requires not just amazing vineyards, great terroir, ambition and skill in the winery, it also needs vision. The ability to look at the history of a region and some how manage to be true to that history whilst managing a totally new and different interpretation of that terroir. That is very much what David Léclapart and Alejandro Muchada are doing with Palomino and Muscat in traditional sherry country. They have fully converted their old vines to biodynamics and are determined to discover just how great Palomino can be in interpreting the remarkable chalk soils of the region. The wines are thrilling, leaving writers stumbling to compare them to great Jura, among other things. However, as things move forward, and as their confidence grows, the wines are moving out of any shadows cast by other regions and standing truly on their own as spectacular examples of how truly great the unfortified whites of this region can be. - Rich
